Therapy for Clarity, Resilience, and Growth

Hi, I’m David, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate at Coffee Talk Therapy. I work with teens, young adults, and adults, supporting them as they navigate life’s challenges, transitions, and seasons of change.

Before entering the counseling field, I spent 29 years as a network analyst at NC State University (Go Wolfpack!). During that time, I volunteered as a mentor to teens and adults, participated in mission work with underserved populations, and coached football and baseball in my community. These experiences shaped my thoughtful, practical perspective on human development and the moments that often become catalysts for meaningful growth and lasting change.

I grew up in a military family and moved frequently, living all over the world. These experiences shaped how I view life, relationships, and communication. Becoming a father sparked a deep interest in understanding behavior and development, and how parenting influences the way a child comes to see themselves.

Years of working in IT gave me a front-row seat to the disconnection many people experience as they move through daily routines and careers without fully understanding themselves or the world around them. This realization inspired me to return to school and become a therapist, where I now help individuals who feel lost or disconnected reconnect with themselves and others, strengthen communication skills, and build a life that reflects both their personal values and professional goals.

MY STORY

As your therapist, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I will walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, build coping skills and emotional regulation, strengthen resilience, and reconnect with yourself and those you care about. Together, we will develop practical strategies and meaningful insight to help you navigate challenges and create lasting, meaningful change.

“Working with Dave felt easy and comfortable. I was honestly really nervous about starting counseling and wasn’t sure what to expect, but he actually listened and never judged me. He helped me make sense of what I was feeling instead of telling me how I was supposed to feel. I learned how to deal with stress, speak up for myself, and feel more confident being me. The only downside is that he’s a Miami Dolphins fan; but other than that, he’s a great person.”
