Healing with Warmth, Empathy, and Steady Support
Hi, I’m Jena McMillan, LCMHCA, NCC, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. I work with teens (12+), adults, couples, and families through telehealth, helping them navigate anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, postpartum concerns, grief, and significant life transitions with greater clarity and confidence.
My journey into counseling began with my own experience in therapy. Sitting in the client’s chair during vulnerable seasons of life profoundly shaped me. I experienced firsthand how transformative a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship can be, and I felt called to offer that same presence to others. Helping people feel seen, understood, and empowered is at the heart of the work I do.
Before entering the counseling field, I spent seven years serving full-time on a church staff, where I worked with college students, coordinated volunteer teams, and managed a church food pantry. I later transitioned to a local nonprofit organization while completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. These experiences deepened my compassion, strengthened my leadership skills, and broadened my understanding of the diverse challenges people face.
My therapy style is conversational, collaborative, and gentle while offering direct guidance when it’s helpful. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy, all through a trauma-informed lens. I also offer spiritual integration for clients who desire faith to be part of their therapeutic process.
In sessions, clients can expect a calm, nonjudgmental space where they feel safe to share openly. I provide attentive listening, thoughtful reflection, and practical tools to help clients better understand their emotions, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change at their own pace.

Healing, to me, means acknowledging pain, building self-awareness, and reconnecting with one’s inner strength. It’s not about eliminating struggles, but about growing through them and cultivating a deeper sense of peace and wholeness. I help clients rediscover their strengths by reflecting back what I see in them, exploring past resilience, and highlighting qualities they may overlook in themselves.
WHAT CLIENTS OFTEN SAY
Clients often share that I am easy to talk to and that I create a safe, welcoming environment. They frequently describe feeling heard, understood, and supported by my calm and steady presence.

Outside of the therapy room, I love meaningful conversations and discovering new coffee shops, especially with a cold brew topped with cinnamon cold foam and vanilla. I enjoy reading, spending time at our local church, and gathering friends and family around a shared meal. The greatest joy in my life is spending time with my husband and our three children.

What is Symbis?
Love!
SYMBIS stands for “Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts.” It’s a research-based relationship assessment and premarital program developed by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott that helps couples build stronger, healthier relationships before (and even after) marriage.
What does it offer?
Here’s what it involves:
Online Assessment: Each partner completes a comprehensive questionnaire that explores key areas of the relationship — communication styles, personality dynamics, expectations about money, intimacy, family, conflict patterns, and more.
Guided Sessions: A trained facilitator (often a therapist or certified counselor) reviews the assessment results with the couple in structured sessions. These conversations uncover strengths, potential challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Tools & Insight: The goal isn’t to “fix” something broken but to spark meaningful dialogue, improve communication, and equip couples with practical tools for navigating future challenges together.
Who is it for?
SYMBIS is widely used for engaged couples, seriously dating couples considering marriage, and even for couples already married who want to deepen their connection.
