How It Works-
Our community counseling services are available to children, teens, adults, couples, and families, depending on the intern’s training, availability, and whether their experience is appropriate for your needs.
-
We want counseling to be accessible, and ability to pay does not determine whether services are offered.
If you have insurance, we may use your typical outpatient counseling copay only to help determine your Community Counseling rate. We do not bill insurance for services provided by Graduate Counseling Interns.
Typical copay is $0: You pay $0
Typical copay is $1–$34: You pay that amount
Typical copay is $35 or more: You pay no more than $35
No insurance: Sessions are $35 or less, based on financial need
Employee or Patron of a Community Partner: If you learned about our program through a participating Community Partner where you work or are a patron, your counseling sessions are $0.
If cost is a concern, please talk with us. Financial hardship will not prevent you from receiving counseling through the program.
-
No. Insurance is not required, and we do not bill insurance for counseling provided by our Graduate Counseling Interns.
-
Our interns are graduate students completing advanced clinical training in counseling under the supervision of Coffee Talk Therapy and their university programs. They also bring valuable field expertise developed through graduate study, previous careers, specialized work experience, and life experience, allowing each intern to offer unique areas of interest and support.
-
You don't have to figure that out on your own. Tell us a little about what you're looking for, who the counseling is for, and what you'd like help with, and we'll help connect you with an intern who may be a good fit.
-
We'll review your needs, discuss available interns, and help you schedule a consultation or first appointment. You'll complete the necessary forms securely through our client portal before beginning counseling.
-
Yes. Depending on the graduate counseling intern and the type of service, appointments may be available in person at our Cary office or through secure telehealth.
-
Yes. Counseling is confidential and your privacy is important to us. As with all counseling services, there are legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which will be explained before services begin.
-
Absolutely. Local organizations can share information about our program with their employees, members, patrons, clients, and families. You contact Coffee Talk Therapy directly, and the referring organization does not receive information about whether you contact us or participate in counseling.
-
That's okay. You don't need to have a diagnosis or be in crisis to benefit from counseling. A consultation gives you an opportunity to ask questions, talk about what you're looking for, and decide whether counseling feels like the right next step.
