Clinical Supervision Means You Have a Team Supporting You
One unique benefit of working with a graduate-level clinician is that you gain the support of an experienced clinical supervisor behind the scenes.
Every graduate clinician at Coffee Talk Therapy meets regularly with a licensed clinical supervisor to discuss treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, ethical considerations, and professional development. This collaborative process helps ensure clients receive thoughtful, high-quality care while protecting confidentiality in accordance with professional and legal standards.
Supervision is considered a best practice within the counseling profession and is designed to strengthen clinical care-not because something is wrong, but because every developing counselor benefits from guidance and consultation.
Where Real-World Experience Meets Clinical Training
Coffee Talk Therapy is proud to serve as a clinical training site for graduate counseling students from respected universities, including Liberty University and Catawba College. We thoughtfully select interns who not only demonstrate strong academic preparation, professionalism, and compassion, but who also bring valuable experience from other professional fields. Their backgrounds in areas such as education, behavioral health, business, healthcare, child development, community service, and human services enrich the therapeutic process by combining real-world perspective with current graduate-level clinical training. Through close supervision, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we are committed to developing the next generation of exceptional therapists while providing thoughtful, high-quality, and affordable care to our community.

What Is a Graduate-Level Clinician?
A graduate-level clinician is not a beginner. They have earned their bachelor's degree and are completing or have nearly completed a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related counseling profession. Before working with clients, they complete graduate coursework in areas such as:
Counseling theories and techniques
Ethics and professional practice
Assessment and diagnosis
Child, adolescent, and adult counseling
Couples and family counseling
Trauma-informed care
Multicultural counseling
Crisis intervention
Human development
Evidence-based treatment approaches
They also complete hundreds of hours of supervised clinical experience before graduation.

The therapy experience is very similar to working with any licensed therapist.
You'll receive individualized treatment, collaborate on goals, learn practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful change in a safe and supportive environment.
The primary difference is that graduate clinicians participate in regular supervision with an experienced licensed therapist to ensure they continue growing professionally while providing exceptional client care.
-
Yes.
Graduate clinicians follow the same ethical standards, HIPAA privacy requirements, and confidentiality laws as licensed mental health professionals. Information shared during supervision is discussed solely for the purpose of providing the highest quality clinical care and remains protected under professional confidentiality standards.
-
Graduate clinicians are an excellent choice for individuals, couples, families, teens, and children seeking compassionate, evidence-based counseling in a supportive environment. They are especially well suited for clients who value collaboration, appreciate a thoughtful and personalized approach, and are looking for high-quality therapy at a more affordable rate.
-
Graduate-level clinicians are not yet eligible to become credentialed with insurance companies, so their sessions cannot be billed through insurance. Instead, they offer counseling at a reduced self-pay rate of $35 per session. Scholarships may also be available for clients who need additional financial support. If your insurance copay would normally be less than $35, Coffee Talk Therapy will match that lower copay amount.
Why Choose a Graduate-Level Clinician:
Many clients intentionally choose graduate clinicians because they receive high-quality care while also benefiting from clinicians who are passionate, engaged, and trained in the most current counseling research and therapeutic approaches.
Graduate clinicians often:
Bring fresh perspectives and current evidence-based practices.
Receive regular supervision and consultation on client care.
